Teamwork
This summer I interned at Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, AL. In June they began a series of team building activities coinciding with an employee luncheon every month. The track employs 50 full-time employees year round but during race time there are over 3,000. With only have 50 full-time employees the majority of the time one would think that they work close together; that is not the case. The president of Talladega Superspeedway recognized that his employees should be more familiar with each other because when one department needed something from another department, not everyone was sure who the proper person was to go to.
During the team building activities, we were separated randomly into groups so that we would meet new people every time. We would all have certain tasks that needed to be completed that required every ones different skills. Which ever group completed the task with the fastest time would receive a prize of some type. After team building we were separated into different groups yet again at different tables to eat lunch.
I met so many other employees this way and it made communication between departments a lot easier.

That's a pretty cool way to build teamwork. It is very important for everybody to be able to work as a team and to get along. If you can't get along with the people you work with it can make for very long days and lead to unhappiness at work. I bet it was awesome workin at Talladega. Sounds like a pretty sweet experience!
That is a great idea to force you to meet as many employees as possible. It can only benefit both you and the overall mission. Talking to and becoming friendly with your fellow employees allows you to work better and more effectively with others.
Communication is one of the big things needed for good business. It's great to hear a company specializing in "entertainment," stepping forward, and making it easier for communication between different sections of the the business.
Wow! Sounds like a very interesting internship. Working at a place that has lots of employees can be hard. I agree because i feel bad when i do not even know someone's name. I work at a corn maze that has over 150 employees, i know that does not compare to 3,000 but it makes life so much easier when you know people's names and the right people to contact. That is pretty cool that they had competitions and gave luncheons!
Wow! Working with a company that has over 3,000 employees would be a challenge! I work at a corn maze with over 150 people and i feel bad not knowing someone's name, i can't imagine having 3,000 people. I think that was a really good idea to have that picnic event and competitions to get to know everyone!
